5G refers to a new communication system that consists primarily of a New Radio (5G NR) framework and an entirely new core network that aims to improve wireless connections globally. It also includes multiple access points for connectivity technologies such as satellites, Wi-Fi, fixed-line, and cellular (as standardized by 3GPP).
With IoT-enabled devices in mind, 5G connects more devices faster and virtually eliminates lag. As a result, no matter what application, device, or service you use, 5G provides an excellent user experience.
Massive cellular IoT technologies are marketed as a low-cost, low-power solution. They thrive in environments with deep and broad coverage, both indoors and out. They provide secure connectivity and authentication, are simple to deploy in any network topology, and are built for full-scope scalability and capacity upgrades.
Current 5G IoT Applications
As previously stated, 4G standards, such as NB-IoT and LTE-M, which are still essential components of early 5G releases, are currently providing mobile IoT solutions for smart cities, smart logistics, and smart utilities. In addition, enterprise and high-speed industrial networking, customer premise equipment (CPE), mobile computing, video broadcasting, and fixed wireless access were the early 5G applications (FWA).
As network rollouts increase, they will evolve and be used to stream augmented reality and 3D video (which require high bandwidth) and for critical communications such as factory automation, UAVs, and more.
